God has a habit of taking things that are so powerful and valuable and making them so vulnerable and so accessible.
He did it with His own image. Taking what made Him ‘Him’ and putting it inside little fragile humans forms.
He did it with Jesus. Taking His only Son, bone of His bone and flesh of His flesh (so to speak), the most valuable thing to Him, and put Him inside a fragile human form, making Him accessible to everyone.
And He did it with His very word. In the gift of prophecy we have the full weight of the same power which created the universe – the Word of God. We have in our mouths the ability to build and destroy entire nations, and God has given it to us with total trust.
The gift of prophecy itself has the ability to take what is valuable inside another person and either give it life or exploit it. It has complete access to the most vulnerable parts of the soul and in using it we have the option of exposing or empowering what we see. We, who are so fragile ourselves, given the very responsibility of the voice of God, able to create realities or tear down dreams! And God has made it available to everyone.
What will we do with this gift? Will we use it to wash our fellow man in the water of His word? Will we build up our planet with the power that first created it? Or will we use this gift to belittle and shame and humiliate? The choice is ours. God gave us a gift to be used, and it is up to us to use it well.
