I recently learned that the river valley, I grew up in and am raising my kids in, was host to the Dakota War of 1862. December 26th marks the 150th year anniversary of our nations largest public execution and the tragic ending of this war.
This short film is a glimpse of my journey of learning and growing in understanding towards the parties involved. I created this film as a way of marking remembrance for our family. We are still growing in understanding as a family and now travel to historical sites as a lifestyle of learning.
This is not a documentary or meant to be a historical recounting. This is my personal journey chronicled in a way that will hopefully lead others to start their own journey of understanding.
